Snapping, the Edit Window, and More Snapping
Now let's put snapping and the Edit window all together. Let's
try something really hard. We want a .75" line, perpendicular
to a rectangle and pointing to a tangent point on a circle.

Perpendicular from a rectangle, edit to .75" long, and tangent
to a circle.
So we press the P key to ask for a perpendicular snap from the rectangle and begin drawing.
Then we press the Tab key to get into the Edit window, and we type the length of .75". Notice that "Length" is now bold, indicating that it is locked. Press the Enter key to get out of the Edit window and continue drawing.
Move the cursor close to the circle and press the T key to ask for a tangent snap. When you get it, click the mouse to complete the line. The line will be placed in the drawing.
Notice that you make up your mind what you want to do in the process of drawing.
