Rotating Spins an Object Around a Point
To rotate selected object, hold down the Option key and choose Rotate from the Arrange menu.

Rotating two selected objects.

The Rotate dialog will appear, type the angle of rotation, click OK and the rotation will be done.

In this case you press the Option key to get the dialog to come up. If you choose Rotate again, it will remember your last angle of rotation and will perform the rotation immediately.

Rotate Left and Rotate Right
These commands in the Arrange menu rotate selected objects 90° to the left or right.

Rotate to Zero
This command in the Arrange menu rotates selected objects to a horizontal position.

Rotating the text to a horizontal position.

You could use this take some text that's already at an angle and rotate it to a horizontal position, as shown above.
