As you can see, several fills and textures were used to create a vibrant rendering for this model home. This a good example of what PowerCADD and WildTools can do for the jobs that need that extra wow factor. I think the gradient fill in the backround really tops off a nice drawing. Be aware, this many hatches and fills will kill a G4 and some G5 computers without major ram. -- Frank Sandoval

JPEG Hatching

Frank Sandoval likes to produce great renderings, and he's developed a technique that's new to the world of PowerCADD, and it's a capability introduced in PowerCADD 7.

In the drawing above, the textures for stone, concrete, grass and water are actually jpeg images that he has used to create a custom hatch in PowerCADD.

It does take a few seconds to redraw the screen, but Frank is only focused on the appearance of the drawing. And he turns on "Hide Hatching" from the View Menu when he wants to work on the drawing and have a fast response from the computer.

It's worth mentioning that we first heard about Frank's drawings when he complained about slow redraws in PowerCADD 7. It was only when we saw his drawings did we realize why! Frank has added more memory to his single 1.8 G5 and reports a speed increase of about 20 X.
