This stock DME 5" x 8" mold base has platen adapter plates (and a core plate) added to it to fit SPI industry standard injection molding machine platens. The two-cavity mold is designed for limited volume molding of short run parts and development of new parts by changing out cavity inserts, core pins, and ejector pins/sleeves. This makes it inexpensive and quick to make up a new insert set to try out a new molded plastic part without building a whole new mold base. Bo Clawson |
