Another shot of my machine in action. Action might be too strong a word for this. Pulling heavy cable out of the tub without damage and without effort is harder than it looks. I am pleased to report it was about as boring as could be... this is a good thing!

Top view of the Capra.

The Future. This shot shows a profile of our two barges lashed end to end. Why I call it the future is the Capras and revolving turntables are a new tool for us. It is a silhouette we are as yet unaccustomed to. Normally we would see a very cumbersome pipe tower made from 20" pipe. It is heavy, hard to transport, hard to erect, hard to disassemble, dangerous to our crew and a major pain to maintain. The Capras take up less deck space and can be erected with about three crane picks in about two hours... AND we can use them to help us mob and demob the project. Because of the revolving tubs and Capras we can now lay torque balanced cables such as this. We have opened the door to new opportunities!

Everyone in the business encouraged me to go Windows and AutoCAD.  When informed I had purchased a Mac and a program called PowerCADD with WildTools, they just shook their heads and groaned.  Now, heads are turning!  I couldn't be happier! This program is productive and fun. Now, every time I open the program, I learn something new. I even dream in PowerCADD using the WildTools click-drag-click!
