Dover Square, Lowell, MA, Phil Loheed and Brian Groen This was our first utilization of the PerspectiveTools and SketchTools for a small traffic calming project that covered two small traffic squares in a Khmer immigrant neighborhood in an old mill town.

Phil helped lay out the drawing base over a digital photo, then we put our proposed planting plan into the perspective sketch.

From that base we inserted graphic line work to represent the proposed planting. Individual plant idioms were developed for each of the plant materials. These were put into our plant libraries for future use. By changing scale and color intensity the impression of depth of field is suggested. It was helpful for planners and decision makers to be able to view this perspective through its various layer buildups, so that security, sight distance and screening of parking could be discussed.

This perspective was printed in color at 8.5 x 11 inches and distributed to neighbors and city council members, adding to the political largesse of the project. At 17 MB, this drawing is the largest PowerCADD file for our office.
