Pulp and Paper Industry

More high density tanks under construction, with scaffolding around one of the tanks.

Here is the cover forming for the conical concrete cover at the top of the tank.

Lining detail for bleach towers

A bleach tower is a carbon steel tank into which Stebbins puts a brick lining. Paper pulp is fed through a bleach solution to make the paper white. The pulp comes up from the left and down to the right.

Construction detail for rectangular chest

Sinks and washtubs for the paper industry! These are 'smaller chests' where are installed near a paper machine. They are like a big kitchen sink, typically 15-16 feet high and 30 feet long. They are used for a variety of things like blending, or adding clay to the paper stock.

This paper mill was built in Japan and shipped to Brazil in 1975. Unlike most paper mills, which use pulp made from wood, this mill used bagasse, which is sugar cane stock. Stebbins did the linings and tile linings inside the vessels.
