Steed Hammond Paul

Highlands Middle School

The unique exterior design of the building has a prominent stair tower, with glass to allow abundant natural light into the stairwell, near the main entrance. The administration and gymnasium lobbies, located on opposite sides of the front of the building, have floor to ceiling glass windows. The design also includes a 600-seat gymnasium able to hold the entire student body. A separate athletic entrance allows the gymnasium to be gated off from the rest of the school during after school events. A central courtyard amphitheatre is adjacent to the cafeteria to allow outdoor dining and reading for the students during school hours. Due to the tight constraints of the site, a full-length parking garage is located under the first floor of the facility to maximize the available space. Highlands Middle School is located in Ft. Thomas Kentucky.
