Re: Double-click on Tools

I don’t actually remember the details except that there was a problem of how a tool would be selected with a key command and how to call the tool to draw. There is much to be said for such a design, say to minimize a tool palette that you want to set aside and to minimize to de-clutter the display, ...

Re: WildTools Developments

I have just uploaded a new copy of WildTools 10.6. In PowerCADD, select WildTools Updates from the Help menu. This will take you to a web page for WildTools 10.6. Click on Download WildTools Development Version link. Recent changes: Nuts & Bolts Fixed Canadian square tube error. Fixed depictions of ...

Re: WildTools Developments

Today I worked on OpenClip Bridge where the concept is to build a bridge between PowerCADD, FormZ and SketchUp, and as it’s a 64bit program it also is a bridge to the 64bit world.

The concept is all described at www.OpenClip.net

Re: PowerCADD Future

I'm sure there's a ton of work to do. I've been through many transitions before, and they are never easy but I'm not afraid of hard work. Just today Greg Johnson found an error in square tubing in Nuts & Bolts. I had the 'bright idea' of having the Clip/Combine/Union tools working with Beziers. A lo...

Re: Life after/beyond PowerCadd?

Eric,

Maybe you already know this, but in reading an XML file, you cannot be assured of getting any value that you ask for with a tag, therefore for every value, you have to set a default value that will be used if your value comes back as NULL.

Re: Life after/beyond PowerCadd?

This is VERY interesting! We already have OpenClip which provides for copy-and-paste with FormZ, and it works by putting the geometry of a PowerCADD drawing into XML, but it is limited to the geometry of the objects and leaves out text and dimension object text. However, OpenClip relies on copy-and-...

Re: David Jones

I had a FaceTime video chat with David yesterday and I’m happy to report that he is well and back to work on the huge drawing/railway map. It’s now about 300MB.

Re: Mojave VM on an M1 Mac

David,

Do a Google search for compressing pdf files. There is a simple way using the Preview app.

One day I would love to see this drawing.

Re: Creating Tables‽

This is pretty funny. Apple has something called a textView. It’s a rectangular area that displays some text. Except for Adobe and Microsoft software, every visible text is a textView. They can be edited or not. An Advanced Text object in PowerCADD and a page in Pages are exactly the same thing and ...

Re: Hatch with no line

From memory, such as it is, I think you can use the Needle tool to copy the attributes from one object to another. You also have the Style tools which are needle tools.
