Crash on option-click

Suddenly option-clicking on any tool while a drawing is open, even a blank drawing, crashes PowerCADD. Option-clicking with no drawing open does nothing. This happens with PC tools and WildTools. Rebooting my system didn't help. What else can I try?

I got out of this crashing by restoring all my com.engsw.*.plist files from an earlier TimeMachine backup. The problem recurs however with the linear patterning tool. The first time I select the tool while holding down Option, I can usually see the preference dialog for the tool. But if I do that a second time it crashes. Sometimes it crashes the first time.

My version is 10.6. Is there a later one?
